What if youre not like all the others The Pretender is a hilarious social deduction game of mini-charades, bluffing and suspicion that will make you laugh and get you thinking creatively It is a brand new game from the creators of the crazy popular family party game Randomise In The Pretender, each round every player has the same identity except for the Pretender The aim of the game for the other players is to discover who the Pretender is, while the Pretender must fake their way through the game, escaping detection and trying to work out what everyone else is At the start of each round, all players receive a card informing them of the groups item (eg Snowman) from a top level category (eg Things that are cold) The Pretenders card doesnt tell them what the item is - they only know the category Players then take it in turns to make one tiny charade relating to this item Be too obvious with your mini-charade and The Pretender will be on to it and will fit right in - too subtle and you risk putting yourself under suspicion Meanwhile, the Pretender must either try and guess the item before their turn so they have some idea what to act out, or act out an action vague enough that it could fit many things within the category After one round of mini-charades, accusations are thrown around in an effort to catch The Pretender Players can openly discuss their suspicions (without mentioning what the item on the card was) When the majority have made up their minds, players agree to vote On the count of three, all players point to who they think the Pretender is The player (or players) with the most votes must reveal their identity If the Pretender has escaped, then they automatically win If the Pretender has been caught, then the rest of the players win UNLESS the Pretender, with one guess, manages to correctly identify the item on the card
