A season has passed since the Champions saved The realm. Winter has come, blanketing the land in snow and ice. The kingdoms are rebuilding, but tensions rise as food becomes scarce. The werefolk are in decline and there are rumors of something exterminating their kind. New disappearance are happening across the realm. Some who have gone missing are later found, but turned into ravenous cannibals. The surviving champions learn that These monsters have been created for some greater purpose. Of dreams & shadows is a cooperative board game for up to six players who take on the role of champions trying to save their realm. As they direct the actions of their champions on the game board, players participate in a collaborative story. The consequences of their choices advance the storyline. Opposing the players is one of three selectable villains, with their own host of deadly servants. Developing flexible tactics and teamwork among players will be crucial as there are over 30 different enemies, each with their own special ability.

This is an expansion, base of dreams & Shadows game required to play. Two to six players will be able to utilize new rules and options to expand upon the quests from the core game while expanding the possibilities of continuing previously completed adventures. Now with the expansion, The Monster within, you can continue the story! Players who completed certain scenarios in the core game will begin the expansion with scenario cards that reflect the choices they made. There are added game play rules for initiating scenarios, linking a completed a world scenario with a quest scenario, and playing alternate characters in any scenario. In addition, the resource deck is now customizable, and will scale with the number of players in the game.
