All Piatnik Playing Card Sets come in sturdy, beautifully made boxes with illustrations that match the specific Piatnik Playing Card design theme you choose. Piatnik has been known for the highest quality playing cards around for more than 100 years. This double deck set of playing cards feature the 19th century post impressionist Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh masterwork 'Irises' made in 1889 while shortly after being voluntarily interned to a psychiatric institution at Saint-Paul-de-Mausole. Influenced by Ukiyo-e prints by Japanese artists such as Katsushika Hokusai, Van Gogh not only adopted a similar aesthetic quality but also decided to portray as well subjects reflecting every day life.
