Match and Spell Next Steps is the perfect progression from Orchard Toys bestselling, awardwinning Match and Spell. Aimed at children aged 5 and over, this phonics activity and educational game helps to develop more advanced reading and spelling skills using both sounds and blends. The educational game is played by building a variety of familiar and more advanced words, from moth to balloon, with the help of colourful illustrations to identify words. Parents can use the sound and blend cards to encourage children to make the individual sounds as well as saying the entire word aloud. There are 18 words included in the game. There are two ways to play, and the game is designed for both guided and independent word building. In the first version of the game, players must match the letter cards to the letters shown on their board in the correct order to build a word. This is a simple matching game, which is a great way to introduce sounds and blends. As children get more familiar, they will progress to reading the words out loud. In the more challenging version of the game, they can turn over the boards to use the blank side and use the letter cards to build the word of the picture shown. The game is finished once all the word boards have been completed. With friendly illustrations and simple gameplay that progresses as children learn, its no surprise that Match and Spell Nest Steps is our bestselling spelling and phonics game! For younger children aged 4 and over, try our Match and Spell first reading and spelling game. This board game has been designed to introduce children sounds, blends and eventually words.
