Made from the same material as a mousepad with a soft polyester blend surface and a rubber backing. Great option for playing outdoors as the corners will lay flat and the rubber bottom grips the table or playing surface. This beautiful mousepad chess mat is printed with a replica of walnut and maple wood grain. The wood grain will pair well with wooden pieces. We also recommend weighted pieces because the extra cushion and thickness of the board prolongs the lifespan of the weights. This chess mat meets the World Chess Federation's (FIDE) and the US Chess Federation (USCF) proportions standards for tournament play. The board measures 20 inches (50.8 cm) with 2.25 inch squares (5.715 cm) 0.06 inch thickness (1.52 mm). Complete with algebraic notation on the perimeter of the squares to simplify lessons and study past games. Perfect for any chess club park game school or tournament games. The board squares will fit chessmen with 1.75 to 2 inch diameter base. We recommend the board is stored flat or rolled but this floppy chess board only weighs 9 oz. and will easily fold to a compact size for travel. Will also roll to fit a standard chess bag. To clean the board wipe with a damp cloth. The board can be also be placed upside down on the top-shelf of an empty dishwasher and put through a wash cycle. Do not use high-temp or heat-dry. Air dry.
